Background

I'm an instructional systems designer at a national modular-space solutions company, where I turn complex technical procedures into engaging eLearning, video demonstrations, and job aids. Before corporate L&D, I deployed online graduate and doctoral courses for a large public university, applying Quality Matters standards to get every course student-ready.

My path into instructional design started in the classroom: I spent seven years teaching English and leading curriculum as a department head in public schools, with an earlier stretch in sales that still shapes how I tie learning to business outcomes. I hold an M.Ed. in Learning Design & Technologies and a B.A. in English Education. My toolkit spans Articulate Rise and Storyline, Vyond, Canva, WellSaid Labs, and Microsoft 365 with Copilot.

My Approach

Start with the performance gap, not the content

I believe the best instructional design begins with understanding what people need to DO differently, not just what they need to KNOW. Every project starts with a thorough needs analysis to identify the real performance gaps and ensure learning is the right solution.

Design for transfer, not just completion

Completion rates don't matter if learners can't apply what they've learned. I design with the work context in mind, incorporating realistic scenarios, job aids, and performance support that extend beyond the training moment to ensure real behavior change.

Measure what matters

Every learning solution should tie back to business outcomes. I work with stakeholders to define success metrics upfront and design evaluation strategies that go beyond smile sheets to measure actual performance improvement and business impact.

Collaborate with SMEs as partners

Subject matter experts have invaluable knowledge, but they're not always natural teachers. I work closely with SMEs to extract their expertise and translate it into learner-centered experiences, respecting their knowledge while bringing instructional design best practices to the table.
